Culture Comfortable - at the track!

Every week you’ll find us at a race track somewhere.  Usually we’re at Winston Speedway on Friday nights and Berlin Raceway on Saturday nights, all summer long.  If we happen to have a night off from the ‘regular’ tracks, we think of it as a night to go to another track and meet new people - members of the racing community who we consider to be family we haven’t yet met.

Now, we’re as ‘normal’ as the next guy - not usually comfortable in new surroundings or situations. But it’s different at a race track.  If you know the difference between high side and low side; if you know why left and cross weights are crucial; when you can tell someone the difference between a transponder and a raceiver, you have common ground for good discussion.  It’s a culture all its own - where speaking the language is not as important as your passion for the sport itself.  That’s why we love it.  You don’t find passions running any deeper than in the pits at a race track.

Racing fits us perfectly because it’s a combination of our TWO passions - Jesus and  fast cars.  Somewhat unusual for senior citizens, maybe, but we love it.  We’re culture comfortable there with people who speak the language of the automobile.  And it’s our constant prayer that they’ll feel the presence of the Spirit of the Living God and be drawn to Him through us.  Lots of chances to share Christ at the track.  Lots of questions to answer.  Lots of opportunities to point folks to the Savior.  It’s culture comfortable for us no matter how you look at it.

Where’s culture comfortable for you?
